A judge in Texas recently backed the decision of Houston Methodist hospital system requiring all hospital employees to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
This decision caused protests by employees who disagreed with mandated vaccines.
According to an Associated Press report, hospitals in Indiana, Washington, D.C., Maryland, New York and Pennsylvania are following suit.
This does not seem to be the case for hospitals in Southeast Iowa.
“Henry County Health Center will not be requiring COVID-19 vaccinations at this time for our associates,” said Shelley Doak, public information director at Henry County Health Center.
Doak estimates that 75% of HCHC employees have been vaccinated; however, that number could be higher since not all vaccinations are reported.
Representatives from Jefferson County Health Center and Washington County Hospitals and Clinics did not respond immediately to requests for their hospital’s plans.
