NORTH LIBERTY — The Iowa Department of Transportation plans to reopen the Penn Street northbound I-380 ramp (Exit 4) in North Liberty beginning Friday. The ramp had been closed since the start of June.
The closure was a part of the DOT’s work to replace the Penn Street bridge and add additional lanes from Penn Street in North Liberty up past Swan Lake Road, as well as improvements at Wright Brothers Boulevard in Cedar Rapids.
The entire project, which is estimated to cost a little over $100 million, is expected to be completed in 2027.
Throughout the closure, drivers heading northbound at the Penn Street ramp were directed south to Forevergreen Road and entered I-380 from there.
