No one was hurt when five vehicles collided on 16th Avenue SW this morning.
An eastbound car stopped for traffic just west of Williams Boulevard SW around 7:40 a.m., and the station wagon behind it also stopped, but the next car in line didn't stop in time. It rear-ended the station wagon, starting the chain-reaction crash, police said.
Crunch! Bam! Boom! The car hit the station wagon, a pickup hit the car, and another car hit the pickup.
Police at the scene said none of the drivers would be charged. Vehicles were stacked for a couple blocks behind a red light at Williams when the accident happened.
At one point, the investigating officer huddled on the median with 10 people who were either in the vehicles involved or connected to those involved.
The wreck forced one lane to be closed for about 45 minutes. Traffic slowed but did not clog.
