Iowa City police are investigating an apartment shooting in which no one appears to have been injured.
A female resident of an apartment in the 1900 block of Broadway Street called police at 10:38 a.m. Sunday to say her apartment had been damaged by gunfire.
The woman said she was not at the apartment during the shooting, but a relative told her the sliding glass door had been damaged, according to a news release. When she went to the apartment she found the door had been shattered and there was a bullet hole in the apartment.
Responding officers found the glass door had been shot from the outside and multiple bullet holes were discovered inside and outside the apartment. Sgt. Denise Brotherton, the department's spokeswoman, said it appears the apartment was intentionally targeted. Investigators have no confirmed motive or suspects.
Police believe the apartment was empty and no one was injured. Brotherton said police did not receive any reports of gunfire so they are not sure exactly when the shooting took place, but it likely happened overnight, she said.
