Nine arrested, two officers hurt in Waterloo disturbance

Waterloo police say two officers were injured, and a squad car was damaged by flying debris, during a disturbance in a neighborhood.
Police were called to the intersection of East Fourth and Gable streets around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday in response to a number of people in the street blocking traffic. Lt. Al Carrier says the crowd would not disperse and the situation got "out of hand."
All available officers and Iowa State Patrol troopers were sent to the neighborhood to bring the situation under control.
Officials says individuals were throwing bricks and bottles at police and squad cars.
The two injured officers were not seriously hurt.
Those arrested, according to Waterloo police:
- Elijah Jamal Moore, 20, of 507 Wellington St., Apt. #3, Waterloo, charged with failure to disperse and public intoxication.
- Ricondis Martin, 18, of 222 Charles St., Waterloo, charged with interference with official acts and failure to disperse.
- Christina Bailey, 72, of 233 Gable St., Waterloo, charged with assault on a peace officer.
- Tiffany Latrice Edwards, 21, of 126 Leland Ave., Waterloo, charged with failure to disperse and disorderly conduct.
- Douglas Gardel Bailey, 19, of 233 Gable St., Waterloo, charged with assault on a peace officer, failure to disperse and interference with official acts.
Four juveniles also face charges, including one charged with assault on a peace officer.
