Oct. 8, 2010 10:50 am
The city of Cedar Rapids' newest speed camera will begin collecting data this Saturday, officials said, but citations from the camera won't be issued for another week.
The new camera, on Interstate 380 southbound at J Avenue NE, will go live at 12:01 a.m. Saturday. Data will be collected from the camera for seven days, but no violations will be issued. Starting at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, violations from the camera will be issued and drivers will start receiving letters and notifications of fines.
More cameras for southbound traffic will go up near Diagonal Drive later this year, police said.
