New Iowa House committee leaders named

CEDAR RAPIDS - Iowa House Speaker Linda Upmeyer, R-Clear Lake, has named several new committee leaders in preparation for the 87th General Assembly that begins Jan. 9.
Most of the appointments were to fill holes created by the retirement of the current leaders.
Here's the lineup for standing committees:
- Administrative Rules Review - Rep. Dawn Pettengill, R-Mount Auburn.
- Administration and Rules - Rep. Mike Sexton, R-Rockwell City, replaces Rep. Walt Rogers, R-Cedar Falls.
- Agriculture - Rep. Lee Hein, R-Monticello.
- Appropriations - Rep. Pat Grassley, R-New Hartford.
- Commerce - Rep. Peter Cownie, R-West Des Moines.
- Economic Growth - Rep. Mary Ann Hanusa, R-Council Bluffs.
- Education - Walt Rogers, replaces Rep. Ron Jorgensen, R-Sioux City (retirement).
- Environmental Protection - Rep. Ross Paustian, R-Walcott, replaces Rep. Megan Jones, R-Sioux Rapids.
- Ethics - Rep. Rob Taylor, R-West Des Moines.
- Government Oversight - Rep. Bobby Kaufmann, R-Wilton.
- Human Resources - Rep. Joel Fry, R-Osceola, replaces Rep. Linda Miller, R-Bettendorf (retirement).
- International Relations - Rep. Terry Baxter, R-Garner, replaces Rep. Jake Highfill, R-Johnston.
- Judiciary - Rep. Chip Baltimore, R-Boone.
- Labor - Rep. Dave Deyoe, R-Nevada, replaces Rep. Gregg Forristall, R-Macedonia.
- Local Government - Jake Highfill, replaces Rep. Kevin Koester, R-Ankeny.
- Natural Resources - Rep. Rob Bacon, R-Slater, replaces Rep. Brian Moore, R-Bellevue.
- Public Safety - Rep. Clel Baudler, R-Greenfield.
- State Government - Rep. Ken Rizer, R-Marion, replaces Rep. Guy Vander Linden, R-Oskaloosa.
- Transportation - Rep. Gary Carlson, R-Muscatine, replaces Rep. Josh Byrnes, R-Osage (retirement).
- Veterans Affairs - Rep. Steve Holt, R-Denison, replaces Rep. Quentin Stanerson, R-Center Point (retirement).
- Ways & Means - Vander Linden (replace Rep. Tom Sands, R-Wapello (retirement).
Leaders for appropriations subcommittees are: Administration and Regulation - Rep. John Landon, R-Ankeny; Agriculture and Natural Resources - Rep. Norlin Mommsen, R-Dewitt; Economic Development - Rep. Brian Best, R-Glidden (replaces Deyoe); Education - Rep. Cecil Dolecheck, R-Mount Ayr; Health and Human Services - Rep. Dave Heaton, R-Mount Pleasant; Justice Systems - Rep. Gary Worthan, R-Storm Lake; Transportation, Infrastructure and Capitals - Rep. Dan Huseman, R-Aurelia.
