Police have released the names of those involved in an accident Monday morning on Blairs Ferry Road.
Pamela Walther, 52, Cedar Rapids, was westbound on Blairs Ferry Road NE around 10 a.m. when she lost control of her car, police said. It first clipped a sport-utility vehicle, and hit the side of a car driven by Nancy Dinius, 64, Cedar Rapids, at the intersection of Blairs Forest Way NE.
Both women were taken to Mercy Medical Center with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, police said. A hospital spokeswoman on Tuesday said no information about either person's medical condition was available.
Witnesses told police Walther may have had a medical condition that caused her to lose control.
The driver of the SUV, Fred Barnett, 55 of West Monroe, La., said Walther was shaking as she crept along near the overpass for Interstate 380. He maneuvered around her, stopped his SUV in front of the median and got out to check on her.
Before he could get to her, Walther's car clipped his vehicle and continued west, eventually hitting Dinius' car.
Police were continuing to investigate the accident.
