Name released after train hits man east of Independence
BUCHANAN COUNTY - Authorities have identified the man who was hit by a train Wednesday night.
A release from the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office says 32-year-old Chad King, of Independence, was walking east along the train tracks around 9:20 p.m. on December 31.
A Canadian National Railroad train traveling east hit him around that time.
He was talking with train crew members when emergency personnel arrived. King only suffered minor injuries, according to authorities, and was transported to the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence for treatment.
