A Toddville man remains in the hospital one month after he was thrown off an Interstate 380 bridge during a motorcycle accident, police said.
Brian Ries, 19, was thrown off the I-380 bridge when his motorcycle struck a guardrail just before the Seventh Street exit on April 11, police said. The bike stayed on the roadway, but Ries went over the railing and landed on a grassy area below the northbound lanes.
Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said Ries, who was initially in critical condition, will survive. He is hospitalized at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. His official medical condition was not being released, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
At last check, police were still investigating what caused the wreck.
