Motorcycle rider dies in Waterloo crash

A motorcycle rider died in a Waterloo crash around midday today.
Emergency responders were called to the northbound lanes of the 3300 block of West Washington Street on a report that a motorcycle had veered off the road into the ditch. The area is between the Cedar River and East Lake Bridges near George Wyth State Park.
Officers followed the motorcycle trail through the ditch, a chain link fence and into the water of East Lake, where the victim's body and a motorcycle were found.
The victim's name was not being released Friday afternoon, pending notification of family.
