The discovery of more human remains has stopped work at a Guttenberg hospital construction site.
On Tuesday, workers found two more sets of bones from what appears to be a burial ground. They've now uncovered what may be up to three sets of human remains in the area.
A spokesperson with the USDA says the hospital project is on hold. Investigators recently put yellow crime scene tape around the area where they've been digging.
Last week, crews found a skull at the site. Tuesday, archaeologists found two more sets of remains they say appear to be from some time in the mid-1800's.
They say they found square nails near the bones from the same time period. Now, those investigators are doing an intense field inspection, searching for more bones and more answers.
Local police say they are not involved with this investigation. Despite the yellow tape, the site is not a crime scene. They say it appears the bones are very old, once buried here long ago.
So why is the USDA involved? Guttenberg's hospital considered rural, so the USDA is loaning the hospital $15 million for the project.
