GOLFERS CELEBRATE JONES REOPENING — It's a new, first day at Jones Golf Course. The Cedar Rapids course opened Saturday for the first time this season after a monthslong debate over potential closure, and some golfers were happy to be back. FIRE SEVERELY DAMAGES HOME — A fire early Sunday caused an estimated $250,000 damage to an Iowa City home. Fire crews were called to 2014 Ridgeway Dr. in Iowa City at 8:14 a.m. Sunday, and upon arrival, found significant fire throughout the basement. LONGTIME BEEKEPER OPTIMISTIC — Honey bees are 'the second love' of Bob Fassbinder's life. He says he could talk all day about the benefits of bees, but he had only 20 minutes to make his points Saturday as a featured speaker at the Music & Monarchs festival. Though honey bee populations have declined dramatically in the past 20 years, Fassbinder said he remains hopeful they will not become extinct.
