HIAWATHA - MobileDemand, a Hiawatha-based provider of rugged tablet computers, plans to expand its work force and moved to a new larger office.
Mobile-Demand outpaced all its competitors in year-on-year growth in 2010 by nearly tripling revenue over 2009. Matt Miller, president of MobileDemand, said 2010 was an amazing year.
“The introduction of our xTablet T7000 was extremely successful, helping us better serve our core markets as well as expand into new verticals,” Miller said in a news release. “Our latest product, the xTablet C1200 Convertible Tablet PC, will fill additional niches.”
To address the company's rapid growth, Miller said MobileDemand added several new positions last year and plans to hire additional staff this year.
“We added sales, marketing and customer service personnel last year. This year we plan to add operations, accounting, engineering and product marketing positions,” he said. “As a result, we outgrew our office space and have moved to a new facility.”
MobileDemand has moved its headquarters to the TecCenter at 1501 Boyson Square Dr., Suite 101, in Hiawatha. The state-of-the-art facility houses sales, marketing, operations, accounting, engineering, customer service, testing, and logistics.
Although there is space to accommodate growth on the first floor, Miller has begun talks about future expansion to the second floor.
MobileDemand, a client of the Entrepreneurial Development Center in Cedar Rapids, initially provided rugged tablet personal computers to Anheuser-Busch distributors in 2003. They used the tablets for presales and merchandising to stores.
MobileDemand's rugged tablet PCs now are used by mobile workers in virtually every industry including food and beverage distribution, agriculture, manufacturing, warehousing, field service, hospitality, retail, transportation, military and public sector.
