IOWA CITY - Music, literature, lectures, films, food, fashion and education play out in the Corridor on any given day, but during the annual Mission Creek Festival, downtown Iowa City rolls out a multicultural carpet of indie artists and their artistry.
Such was the case Wednesday night as Motley Cow Cafe, 160 N. Linn St., hosted an event dubbed an 'intersection of art and food,” in which a five-course meal - prepared with the help of guest chef Drew Burk of Tucson, Ari. - was served up to correspond with chapters of a literary work by poet Richard Siken.
Each vignette also included a music and dance performance featuring the work of choreographer Eloy Barragan and musician Brendan Hanks.
Motley Cow Owner and Chef David Wieseneck called the performance a true 'multimedia presentation.”
About 50 people attended the event.
The Mission Creek Festival continues through Sunday. Individual show tickets are available at midwestix.com/organizations/mission-creek-festival.
