A Tennessee teen who went missing Tuesday may have been headed to Cedar Rapids.
Authorities suspect that Dakota Mateo, who turns 14 Sunday, was taken from Dickson County, Tenn. by her non-custodial mother, Brandy Lee Turner, 37, formerly of Cedar Rapids.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued an endangered child alert for Mateo Tuesday afternoon. She was last seen at about 4 a.m. Tuesday on Lucas Road in Dickson.
A surveillance camera at a Love's Travel Stop captured images of what appeared to be Mateo and Turner, the Dickson County Sheriff's office said.
A no contact order with Mateo's mother and father is in effect through Dickson County Juvenile Court.
On March 25, on what appears to be Turner's Myspace profile, the following message was posted:
"we love you Dakota an if you see this we are not giving up on you!!! Me, your sissy, niecey hali, an ur big bro Antesio are going to come see you an hopfully getting you when we come down to court next month.. even tho you were taken for so many years unfairly now that i found you NO ONE can take you, or keep you from us an our family ever again!!"
The profile says that Turner moved to Nashville from Cedar Rapids.
According to Gazette archives, a Cedar Rapids resident named Brandy L. Turner failed to make child support payments in 1994.
The Dickson County sheriff's office says Turner is 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes.
Mateo is listed as 5 feet 4 inches tall. She weighs 135 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes.
No information on on Turner's vehicle was available.
