Michelle Kehoe trial set to start in two weeks
Trish Mehaffey Oct. 13, 2009 6:02 pm
The murder trial of Michelle Kehoe will begin Oct. 28 in Grundy County District Court.
Attorneys and First Judicial District Judge Bruce Zager briefly discussed the trial during a pretrial hearing Tuesday in Buchanan County District Court. The attorneys worked out most of their legal or technical issues before this hearing.
Zager said a panel of 37 would be called in Grundy County and 15 jurors would be chosen to provide three alternates. The trial is expected to last a week or more.
The trial was transferred out of Buchanan County based on extensive pretrial publicity, which Zager said was evident in mock jury questionnaires last month.
Kehoe, 35, of Coralville, is charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder. She is accused of killing her son Seth, 2, and attempting to kill her other son, Sean, 7, last Oct. 26 near Littleton.
