The Metro Library Network is beginning two new online programs to help people with their homework or help them find jobs.
The network - consisting of the Cedar Rapids, Hiawatha and Marion libraries - will offer the services free to anyone with a library card.
As of April 1, library patrons can access either HelpNow or JobNow.
HelpNow will offer one-on-one, live help with homework for students in grades 3 through 12. It also offers writing labs to help students produce better letters, term papers and reports.
The HelpNow service offers online tutoring in English/language arts; math, including algebra I, algebra II, geometry, trigonometry and calculus; science, including biology, chemistry, physics and earth science; and social studies.
At the JobNow Web site, a trained job coach will help those looking for jobs. The site also offers personality assessments for people just beginning a job search, as well as resume and cover letter templates and examples, live interview practice, online resources and local job search Web sites.
Any Metro Library Network cardholder can access JobNow or HelpNow, seven days a week from 2 to 11 p.m. and connect for a one-to-one session with a job coach or tutor or 24/7 for additional information.
Spanish speaking coaches and tutors are available during the same hours.
