Sean Williams will resign as Mercy Iowa City president and chief executive officer effective Sept. 30, the hospital said Wednesday.
Mike Trachta, MercyOne System vice president of network affiliates and Mercy Iowa City chief operating officer, will serve as acting president of the hospital.
Williams has been president and CEO of Mercy Iowa City since May 2018. Before then, he was president and CEO of Mercy Medical Center in Clinton for eight years.
“As announced previously, Mercy Iowa City continues to be engaged in a process to identify a long-term partner, and we will share more information as soon as it becomes available,” a news release said.
Mercy Iowa City, an acute-care hospital and regional referral center, did not offer additional details on Williams’ stepping down.
