UPDATE: Police tied two men to a southeast Cedar Rapids burglary when one of them left his cell phone behind.
Officers responding to a complaint from a neighbor who spotted two men breaking into 2110 Grande Ave. SE a few minutes before 6 p.m. Tuesday stopped Jeffrey Perkins and Lance Blackcloud nearby, police Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said. They detained the pair and checked the house, finding a cell phone dropped by one of the men.
Police also found a bracelet taken from the house in the back seat of the squad car used to transport the pair to the Linn County Jail, Hamblin said.
Perkins, 31, of 1741 Richmond Rd. NE, and Blackcloud, 27, of 809 17th St. SE, were both charged with third-degree burglary.
The pair took jewelry valued at $300, and caused about $1,1000 damage to a window and doors while trying to force their way in, according to Hamblin.
