After leading authorities on a high-speed pursuit that reached above 110 mph on Oct. 14, two men have plead guilty to drug charges in federal court.
The driver of the van, Jose “Junior” Eduardo Victor, 18, of Marshalltown, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute and for aiding and abetting the distribution of methamphetamine on Dec. 29, 2008. His passenger, Gary Alan Corwin Jr., 26, also of Marshalltown, pleaded guilty to the same charge.
Both men face a mandatory minimum sentence of five years imprisonment and could serve as many as 40 years of time.
The charges stem from a high-speed pursuit that started in Cedar Rapids when Victor failed to pull over for officers. Victor and Corwin Jr. fled the city northbound on Interstate 380, tossing quantities of methamphetamine out the car
Special Assistant United States attorneys Mari S. Sleister and C.J. Williams are prosecuting the case. Victor and Corwin Jr. will remain in custody of the United States Marshal and each face a $2,000,000 fine.
At approximately 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, Cedar Rapids Police and Iowa State Patrol apprehended two suspects after a high speed pursuit on the northbound lanes of Interstate 380. No one was harmed and there was no damage. (Spencer Willems/The Gazette)
