Megabus has made the move to the new Coralville Transit Intermodal Facility at 906 Quarry Road in Iowa River Landing, which opened Monday.
The express bus service previously served travelers at the Court Street Transportation Center, 100 E Court St. in Iowa City.
The Coralville City Council last month approved a one-year agreement with Megabus.com to lease space for $750 per month. The bus service will be able to use the premises and terminal for passenger waiting and pickup space.
Megabus.com said the change of location will provide customers with access to more amenities, including an indoor waiting area, restrooms and paid parking options. Megabus.com customers can travel from Coralville directly to Chicago, Davenport, Des Moines and Omaha.
The $13.9 million Coralville Transit Intermodal Facility offers additional local transit connections and car rental options. It is scheduled to have a stop for local public bus service beginning Aug. 24.
The Coralville Transit Intermodal Facility also is a designated park-and-ride facility for commuters. It has 265 covered parking spaces, 174 local retail parking spaces, a bike locker and rentals, an electric vehicle charging station, and an office for the Iowa Bicycle Coalition.
Davenport-based River Bend Transit also recently announced it will be expanding its services at the Iowa River Landing this week through the QC-IC X-press between the the Quad Cities and Iowa City.
