Marion police responding to call arrest several for drug activity

What was initially a harassment call last Wednesday led Marion Police to charge multiple individuals with drug charges after evidence of illegal drug activity was observed on scene.
According to a media release from the Marion Police Department, at 6:36 p.m. on Dec. 13 Marion Police were called to a residence at 2515 4th Avenue in Marion for the report of a harassment incident.
As officers arrived, they found the individual they were seeking, but they also found indications of illegal drug activity that then triggered a separate investigation, according to the release.
Following this investigation, Marion Police issued the following charges, according to the release:
' Erik Hanson, 44, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly house.
' Michelle Hanson, 41, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly house.
' Jaymz Plummer, 18, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly house.
' Barbara Vanalst, 61, was charged with first offense possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) and disorderly house.
' An additional two juveniles were on the scene who were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police say that following these charges several items 'of evidentiary value” were seized by police and will be held by the police department pending court proceedings.
Possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly house are both simple misdemeanor charges in Iowa, while possession of a controlled substance is a serious misdemeanor.
