Marion hosts 3A boys’ district double-header

CEDAR RAPIDS - The Iowa High School Athletic Association revealed all postseason pairings for Class 3A and 4A boys' basketball Monday morning.

Marion will host a district semifinal double-header February 23, with the Indians playing Solon in the 8 p.m. nightcap. Cedar Rapids Xavier plays Benton Community in the 6:30 opener, with the winners playing a district final February 26 at Cedar Rapids Kennedy.

In Class 4A, Kennedy and Linn-Mar receive first-round byes in Substate 3. Linn-Mar hosts either Waterloo West or Marshalltown in a substate semifinal February 27, with Kennedy hosting either Cedar Falls or Waterloo East that same night.

Three-time defending champion Iowa City West and Cedar Rapids Washington have first-round byes in Substate 6. Cedar Rapids Prairie hosts Cedar Rapids Jefferson in a first-round substate game February 23, with that winner playing at West on the 27th.

Washington also plays that night against either Ottumwa or Burlington.

Substate finals in 4A are March 3, with the U.S. Cellular Center hosting a double-header. Substate 6 is first up at 6:30, with the Substate 7 final following at 8.

The U.S. Cellular Center also hosts a 3A sustate final double-header March 2 that could involve Marion or Xavier. Davenport Assumption, Maquoketa, DeWitt Central and Mount Vernon are in the corresponding district.
