UPDATE: No one was hurt when fire broke out in a kitchen at a Marion home this morning.
Crews rushed to the home at 2955 First St. around 10:25 a.m. Assistant Fire Chief John Madland said the fire started on the stove and was quickly extinguished.
"It didn't take but just a second to knock it down," Madland said. "It was a relatively small fire in the corner of the kitchen. A blast of water put it out."
The fire damaged some cabinets above the stove, Madland said, but smoke circulated throughout the house. Crews used a large fan to ventilate smoke from the one-story house, owned by Jeremy Buck.
A woman who was inside when the fire started got out of the house on her own. Madland said the residents of the home weren't expected to be displaced.
