Embracing the ethos of do it yourself is a common way to save money when it comes to household chores or repairs. Jonathan Dyrland took it a step further with Marion High School's upcoming musical.
“I'd thought about writing a show for years,” said the choral director. “I was in a situation where budget constraints almost made it a no-brainer.”
The result of Dyrland's creative costcutting is “Prodigal,” a musical he has written and composed, which will premiere at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1 in the auditorium at Marion High School, 675 S. 15th St., Marion. Tickets are $8 for adults and $7 for children, students and senior citizens, but a $2 discount is available for tickets purchased in advance by calling (319) 377-9891, ext. 1127.
