Man shot after argument at Palo Auto Salvage

A man required hospitalization after an argument near Palo Auto Salvage resulted in a gun shot to the leg.
According to a media release from the Linn County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded at approximately 4:40 p.m. Monday for the report of trespassing at 3958 Old Ferry Rd., the location of Palo Auto Salvage.
Upon arriving, deputies spoke with David McVay, 59, of Cedar Rapids, and Melvin Roberts, 45, of Cedar Rapids, with Roberts having a gunshot wound to his right leg. According to the release, McVay told the deputies he shot Roberts after he found him trespassing on the Palo Auto Salvage and the two men got into an argument.
Roberts was transported to Mercy Hospital for treatment. He was later released and taken to the Linn County Jail on an outstanding warrant for his arrest, according to the release.
According to the release, no charges related to the incident have been filed at this time and it remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
