Police said a man pushed a woman into a car and rifled through her purse looking for money Thursday morning.
Officers responded around 7 a.m. to the attempted robbery outside of the apartment building at 2206 Kenrich Dr. SW. Erin McFarlin, 45, told police she was walking to her car when an unfamiliar man approached her from behind.
After he pushed her into her car, McFarlin said he demanded money, according to the police report. When she said she didn't have any, he looked through her purse, police said.
McFarlin was able to push the man out of the car, shut the door and lock it. The suspect stood in front of the car with his back to her for a few moments and then ran off, police said. McFarlin waited a few minutes before running inside and calling police.
McFarlin was not injured, and no property or money was stolen.
The suspect is described as a clean-shaven white male, about 6-foot-1 to 6-foot-3 and around 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a light-colored Carhartt-style jacket and a dark-colored baseball hat.
An investigation was continuing.
