Man leads Marion police on brief car chase

Prentice Thurmond, 46, was arrested after leading Marion police on a brief car chase Monday night.
Patrol officers tried to stop Thurmond, whose most recent reported address was in Hiawatha, for traffic-related charges about 6:55 p.m., but he didn't comply. starting a three-mile pursuit that ended when lost control along Squaq Ridge Road.
Thurmond was taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital. After treatment for minor injuries he was taken to the Linn County Jail, where he was held on suspicion of drunken driving, possession of a controlled substance, attempting to elude, and other traffic counts.
