Man killed in rollover crash in Buchanan County

BUCHANAN COUNTY — A 26-year-old Winthrop man is dead following a crash early Sunday morning north of Walker, Iowa.

Buchanan County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of Quasqueton Avenue and Linn-Buchanan Road north of Walker at 5:17 a.m. to a report of a vehicle crash.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Kyle Decker, 26, of Winthrop, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado south on Quasqueton Avenue when he lost control as the road curved near Linn-Buchanan Road.

The truck crossed the center line and went into a ditch south of Linn-Buchanan Road, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. The vehicle then struck a field road and rolled onto its top. Decker was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the truck, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Walker Fire Department, Center Point Ambulance, Linn County Medical Examiner and Area Ambulance Service also responded to the scene.
