Man found not guilty of sexually abusing a minor

A 23-year-old man was found not guilty Thursday for sexually abusing a 13-year-old Marion girl in 2010.

A jury acquitted Jamison Downing of third-degree sexual abuse after a three-day trial in Linn County District Court.

The defense claimed during the trial that Downing, who at the time was 21, claimed he never had sex with the girl. Downing didn't take the stand.

The girl, now 15, testified Downing forced himself on her June 10, 2010 at his mother's home in Marion.
