Man found dead along Cedar Rapids street identified

UPDATE: Police are investigating the death of a man who was found wearing only his boxer shorts early this morning along a southwest Cedar Rapids street.

Officers were called to 572 10th St. SW around 5:50 a.m. when a passerby found a man lying in a driveway, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sgt. Clint Fangmann said there were no obvious signs of foul play. He said the deceased was Cory Sundberg, 31.

“We're locating neighbors to see if they might have seen or heard anything unusual,” Fangmann said.

A section of 10th Street SW was closed off near Eighth Avenue SW for about two hours but has since reopened.

Sgt. Cristy Hamblin, spokeswoman for the Police Department, said an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. She said police do not believe the man was homeless, but are still gathering information.
