Man flips car into ditch on Kirkwood Boulevard

CEDAR RAPIDS – A 27-year-old Cedar Rapids man flipped the Corvette he was driving while southbound on Kirkwood Boulevard, authorities said.

Police at the scene said at 3:15 Wednesday, a witness saw a driver southbound on Kirkwood Boulevard, near 76th Avenue Drive SW, when he lost control of the vehicle and entered a ditch on the east side of the road, causing the car to flip onto its top.

According to Cedar Rapids police Sgt. Cristy Hamblin, Brandon McCullough went off the road in a 1993 maroon corvette and over a farm drive, causing his car to flip on its top.

An officer at the scene said a witness saw him driving “pretty fast,” but police have not determined his exact speed.

The driver managed to free himself from the vehicle, and was transported by Area Ambulance to Mercy Hospital, Hamblin said, with what appeared to be a cut on his head.
