Man faces numerous charges after Buchanan County standoff

AURORA - An Aurora man faces numerous charges after police say he fired gunshots during a standoff with officers Saturday night.
According to the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to a home at 306 Buffalo St. in Aurora at 10:53 p.m. for a possible domestic disturbance. About 20 minutes later, police said they were notified the incident had escalated into a standoff, with a man threatening a woman at the home with a weapon.
According to police, the man fired two shots at deputies outside the home as the standoff continued. A negotiator was called to the scene, and after about two hours, the man was taken into custody outside the home.
The suspect, identified as Dennis E. Chamberlain, 55, of Aurora, faces charges of attempted murder, a class B felony; intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a class C felony; domestic abuse assault with a dangerous weapon and reckless use of a firearm causing property damage, both aggravated misdemeanors; and false imprisonment, a serious misdemeanor. He was taken to the Buchanan County Jail, police said.
No injuries were reported, according to police.
