Man escapes mobile home fire in Hiawatha
HIAWATHA – No one was injured when a fire broke out in a mobile home early this morning.
Hiawatha fire crews responded to a fire at 1:22 a.m. at 155 Robins Road Lot No. 119 in the Oakbrook Trailer Court.
Upon arrival crews had heavy smoke and fire conditions. The property is owned by Juan Ruiz who lives at that address. Ruiz was the only one home at the time of the fire and was able to escape on his own, fire officials said.
The Hiawatha Fire Department responded with 22 firefighters. Hiawatha crews were assisted by the Robins Fire Department and Hiawatha Police Department.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The home is a loss.
