Man confesses in 2006 murder case

A man has confessed to the 2006 murder of a Prairie du Chien woman, police announced today.
Michael John Burroughs, 26, will appear in Crawford County District Court for a bond hearing at 2:30 p.m. today. He's expected to face a murder charge in the death of Shannon Fischer, who disappeared in December 2006.
Burroughs came to the Crawford County Jail around 9:30 a.m. Sunday and confessed to the crime, Prairie du Chien police said today. He was taken into formal custody Sunday afternoon.
