CEDAR RAPIDS – Police arrested a Cedar Rapids man for his sixth drunken driving offense following a chase early Wednesday.
Manuel H. Isaac, 37, of 4800 Bever Ave. SE, was taken into custody after he did not pull over for speeding, police said. He is charged with drunken driving, driving on a suspended license, and interference with official acts.
Police said the pursuit started near the intersection of Mount Vernon Road and 38th Street SE, and Isaac went speeding down East Post Road before stopping near his residence.
Isaac took off running after stopping at a dead end in the 4800 block of Bever Avenue SE, but was captured. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Online court records show Isaac had previous convictions for drunken driving in 1996, 1999, 2000, 2003 and 2007. In the last incident, he was sentenced to five years in prison and fined $3,125, but a judge suspended all but 60 days of the sentence.
