CEDAR RAPIDS – A 35-year-old man who conspired to distribute crack cocaine from 1997 through 2006 was convicted by a jury Thursday after a 3-day trial in U.S. District Court.
Milo Davis, of Cedar Rapids, was found guilty of one count of conspiracy to distribute crack and powder cocaine and one count of money laundering. The verdict was returned after a jury deliberated six hours.
The evidence at trial showed that between 1997 and 2006 Davis, formerly the owner of Headquarterz Barbershop in Cedar Rapids, agreed with others to distribute crack and powder cocaine. Davis was convicted of agreeing to distribute 50 grams or more of crack cocaine and 500 grams or more of powder cocaine.
Davis also concealed earnings from his drug trafficking by putting money into others' bank accounts and using the money to purchase a car in another's name.
Davis faces 20 years to life in prison and a $8 million fine.
