Little girls found naked and cold; Iowa City mom arrested

Police have arrested a 30-year-old Iowa City mother whose two little girls were found walking around naked in the cold outside their apartment.

The Iowa City Press-Citizen says Kimberly Moore faces two counts of child endangerment.

Police say Moore left the girls sleeping alone in their apartment around 8:10 a.m. on Friday while she walked to a nearby store. The girls are 1½ and 3 years old.

Police say the girls soon awoke and eventually wandered outside into the 20-degree air. The youngest was naked; the 3-year-old was wearing only underpants.

They were found by two women and taken to the nearby Pheasant Ridge Neighborhood Center of Johnson County.

Moore is in Johnson County Jail, pending $15,000 bail. Court records don't list the name of her attorney.
