Johnson County - North Liberty's Lisa Green-Douglass has announced her bid for the Johnson County Board of Supervisors.
Green-Douglass announced in a Tuesday news release that she is seeking the seat to be vacated by current Supervisor Terrence Neuzil, who announced last week plans to resign and take a county administrator job in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Once a formal resignation is provided to the county, the auditor, recorder and treasurer will meet to decide whether to appoint a new supervisor or hold a special election.
In the news release, Green-Douglass said she continues to advocate for accessible and affordable mental health care and said she also plans to strive for services for the elderly such as transportation, senior dining and visiting nurses.
Green-Douglass, who has been active in local politics since 1988, has served for 14 years on the Johnson County Democrats Central Committee and has worked on several campaigns. She ran for the county board in 2014 - losing in the June primary.
With Neuzil's announced resignation, local business owner Kurt Friese has also announced a bid for the 2016 seat.
