Linn County Sheriff's Office moving back downtown

Dec. 8, 2009 1:44 pm
The Linn County Sheriff's Office is moving back next month to its downtown office that was flooded last year.
The office will be closed Jan. 8 through 10 and reopen Jan. 12 at 310 2nd Ave. SW. Only the office will be closed on those days. Emergency services and patrol will remain in service.
The office relocated to the county-owned Abbe Center in Marion a few weeks after the flood in June 2008. The downtown office was flooded with about 11 feet of water on the ground floor and several feet in the basement, where the emergency center was located.
The $2.8 million renovation of the office is being reimbursed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the state.
