Police are looking for Demik Whiteside, who failed to return to the Linn County Jail Monday after being released to look for a job.
Whiteside, 21, was released Monday morning to seek work under a court-ordered work-release provision, according to sheriff's Lt. Pete Wilson. After Whiteside failed to return by his 3 p.m. deadline, the sheriff's office issued a public notice of his failure to return.
Whiteside was serving a 238-day sentence for violating the conditions of his parole on a 2006 conviction for third-degree burglary.
Whiteside is black, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, and weighs 165 pounds.
Anyone with information on Whiteside's whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff's office at 892-6100 or Cedar Rapids police at 286-5491.
