Linn County budget meetings begin Wednesday

CEDAR RAPIDS - Linn County officials will soon begin the three-month process of creating the county's fiscal year 2018 budget.
The Linn County Board of Supervisors holds the first of more than 25 public meetings at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Linn County Public Service Center, 935 Second St. SW.
Meetings, which include supervisors and department heads, are open to the public and allow for public comment.
November's meeting schedule is as follows:
l 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16
l 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21
l 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21
l 8 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22
The fiscal year 2018 budget, which covers July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2018, must be completed by spring.
Linn County's fiscal year 2017 budget was approved earlier this year at $107 million. The county maintained a $6.14 levy rate this year.
