CEDAR RAPIDS - City Hall received word on Thursday about a final piece of funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for the city's new $36 million public works facility at 1201 Sixth St. SW.
The latest $4.525 million is part of a total of $18.5 million in FEMA funding for the project, the bulk of which had already been confirmed, flood recovery and reinvestment Director Joe O'Hern said Thursday.
Sen. Tom Harkin announced the latest FEMA funding for the project.
The City Services Center, which is slated to open in the fall of 2014, will replace the current public works facility on the same site. State I-JOBS funds and city funds are also paying a portion of the building's cost.
