Landlords sought for ‘rapid rehousing’ program
Jan. 25, 2017 4:06 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS - Waypoint Services is seeking landlords to get involved in a 'rapid rehousing” program, which helps low income residents identify and secure affordable housing.
The program relies on landlords' willingness to rent to homeless households, including those who have tenant qualification issues.
Waypoint has been hosting quarterly meetings for landlords to voice their opinions, and to foster a partnership to help households sustain stable housing and become successful tenants, according to Waypoint. Those interested in becoming involved can contact J'nae Peterman at (319) 366-7999, extension 6153, or via email at jpeterman@waypointservices.org.
Another resource, Waypoint's Tenant Academy, is offered to households struggling to maintain or attain safe, affordable housing. The nine-hour course focuses on tenant rights and responsibilities, how to effectively communicate with landlords, creating a monthly budget and what to consider when looking for safe and affordable housing, according to Waypoint.
Successful completion of the class yields a certificate to present to landlords to show their participation in the tenant education course.
