For the first time in its history, Kohl's Department Stores will keep its stores open around the clock in the final four days of the holiday shopping season.
The Menomonee Falls, Wis., retailer will be open for more than 100 hours straight from 6 a.m. Dec. 20 to 6 p.m. Dec. 24. In Eastern Iowa, Kohl's operates department stores in Cedar Rapids, Cedar Falls, Clinton, Coralville, Davenport and Dubuque.
Kohl's opened at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day and stayed opened for 28 hours straight.
Last month, Kohl's reported third-quarter net income of $177 million, or 81 cents a share, compared with a year-earlier profit of $215 million, or 91 cents.
Revenue for the three months that ended on Nov. 2 was $4.44 billion, down 1 percent from $4.49 billion a year ago, while same-store sales, a key growth indicator, declined by1.6 percent, more than the 0.7 percent decrease predicted by Wall Street analysts.
The department store chain also said it anticipates a 2 percent to 4 percent decline in sales during the critical November and December shopping period, a reflection of consumers tightening their purse strings.
