UPDATE: Three people have been arrested for a string of vandalism that includes graffiti at Kingston Stadium, police said.
The young men who were arrested are Andrew Ronnenberg, 20, Lester Good, 18, and Nicholas Daugherty, 17, all of Cedar Rapids. They are charged with second-degree criminal mischief.
Police said they turned themselves in. They were allowed to sign promises to appear in court and were not taken to jail.
Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said the case was solved because of Crime Stoppers tips, a thorough investigation and the video surveillance.
Workers discovered vandalism at the stadium July 12. Messages and other designs were spray-painted all over the press box, tunnel walls and stadium seats. Police said a vehicle nearby was also vandalized.
School officials tallied the damage at around $1,500.
Some of the messages included a vow to blow up the stadium and others made references to President Obama.
Police released surveillance video Friday showing two of the suspects at the stadium early Saturday morning.
Police said the men have been connected to similar graffiti sprayed in other locations since mid-June. They include the campus of Kirkwood Community College, Teamsters Local 238 Union Hall, 5000 J St. SW, Phelan's Interiors, 211 Eighth St. SE, Neighborhood Church, 701 25th St. NE, Interstate 380 and 29th Street NE, and Fevold Plumbing, 5104 J St. SW.
