The trial for a Cedar Rapids man accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman has been reset again, to May 14 in Linn County District Court.
William Roby, 51, charged with first-degree kidnapping, is accused of forcing a 62-year-old woman into his apartment May 15, holding her for nearly 10 hours and repeatedly sexually assaulting her, according to a search warrant. The trial was previously set to start next week.
Roby threatened to kill the woman's cat if she didn't follow his orders, and also threatened to kill her and himself if police showed up, according to the warrant.
Roby pleaded not guilty and remains free on bond pending his trial.
