GRAND CHUTE, Wis. - The Cedar Rapids Kernels were limited to five hits and were shutout Thursday night by the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, 3-0, at Fox Cities Stadium.
Josh Uhen and Zach Cooper combined on the pitching gem for Wisconsin, which beat Cedar Rapids for just the second time in 16 games this Midwest League season.
Michael Theofanopoulos (5-3) made a spot start and took the loss for the Kernels. He allowed all three Timber Rattlers runs in three innings of work.
The teams conclude their three-game series Friday night. The Kernels then return home for three games against Clinton to conclude the regular season.
They host Quad Cities in the first game of a first-round playoff series Wednesday night.
