Kernels will play West Michigan in Midwest League Championship Series

CEDAR RAPIDS - The Cedar Rapids Kernels now know their opponent in the Midwest League Championship Series. It's the West Michigan Whitecaps.
West Michigan exploded for 22 hits and 14 runs to beat Lansing, 14-5, Monday night in the deciding Game 3 of the Eastern Division finals.
Cedar Rapids and West Michigan will play Game 1 of a best-of-5 series Wednesday night at Grand Rapids, Mich. Game 2 is Thursday night.
The series shifts to Veterans Memorial Stadium for Game 3 Saturday afternoon at 3:35. If Game 4 is necessary, it's Sunday at 2:05 p.m. at Cedar Rapids.
A winner-take-all Game 5 is Monday night at 6:35 at Memorial Stadium.
The teams played three times in the regular season, all at West Michigan. The Whitecaps won, 8-7 and 6-2, with Cedar Rapids winning the third game, 4-2.
Cedar Rapids last won the MWL title in 1994. West Michigan has won it five times since then, the last in 2007.
